Crumb-catching Challah Board by Alessi

The Jewish Museum and Alessi, the Italian design house, collaborated on a special selection of contemporary designs from Alessi's catalog for Jewish holidays and traditions.

 

This bread board for Shabbat and holiday challah is designed by Anna and Gian Franco Gasparini. The board is made of bamboo. The top has lengthwise slits, so crumbs can fall into the pull-out drawer below. The drawer is made of thermoplastic resin and features two compartments: one that is smaller to hold a bread knife and is covered by wood to avoid crumbs, and another that is larger and under the slits to catch the crumbs.
