The menorah's Yemenite filigree is considered to be one of the oldest forms of crafts, with origins in Yemen and the surrounding area. The art of Yemenite filigree was traditionally a Jewish profession and primarily done with silver. With the westernization of Yemen, the art began to decline but has recently been re-introduced by a select number of artists.
