This necklace features a hamsa made from opal on a silverpated chain. The hamsa is a popular Middle Eastern symbol thought to protect one from the glances of the evil eye. Opal is a semi-precious stone and the birthstone for October birthdays. In the Middle Ages, opal was considered to provide great luck because it was believed to possess all the virtues of each gemstone whose color was represented in the color spectrum of opal.
