One-of-a-Kind Hand-painted Pomegranate by SIND Studio

 

These beautiful tabletop pomegranates are one-of-a-kind sculptures made by SIND Studio in Tel Aviv, Israel. Each is handmade from porcelain then hand-painted with a unique pattern and coloration, so no two are exactly alike. Finally, they are finished with real gold paint accents.

 

The pomegranate, one of the seven species of Israel, is considered a symbol of fruitfulness, fertility and love due to its abundance of seeds. It is also thought to have 613 seeds like the 613 mizvot (commandments). On Rosh Hashanah, it is tradition to eat pomegranates as part of the blessing over the "new fruit" on the second night. Pomegranates are still grown in Israel and are often used to decorate ceremonial and other Jewish objects.
