The original ring features a finely crafted Gothic temple symbolizing the destroyed Temple of Jerusalem and the Hebrew letters מזלטוב (Mazel Tov) are engraved on the roof of the miniature temple. In this version of the necklace which can be worn two ways, the roof of the temple engraved with מזלטוב (Mazel Tov) is reconfigured into a flat design on one side of the pendant; a raised Star of David is on the reverse side. The necklace is packaged in a beautiful Jeweria gift box
ABOUT THE RING:
The original ring was found in Erfurt, Germany and is considered the oldest, most impressive and most detailed of the three medieval wedding rings that still exist today. The masterpiece of medieval wedding rings is just one example of the outstanding Jewish craftsmanship of the 14th century.
The original ring was made around 1300 and buried under a staircase near the Old Synagogue in Erfurt in 1349 along with over 3,141 silver coins, 14 silverbars, and 700 goldsmith's items. This unique ensemble of Jewish artifacts was rediscovered during construction work in 1998 and is known as the Erfurt Treasure. The Old Synagogue was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September 2023.
Jeweria is the official manufacturer of certified reproductions of the historic Jewish wedding ring and related products. Manufacturing takes place in a traditional German goldsmith factory using a multi-stage process.
