Members $16.20 The OY/YO Ornament is based on Deborah Kass's vibrant yellow OY/YO sculpture which seeks to evoke joy and unity in its playful monumentalizing of classic New York slang. The work uses the city's culturally specific, yet universal lingo to communicate the collective pride and exasperation of living here with the twinned words oy (a Yiddish exclamation of alarm or bother) and yo (an ominipresent New York greeting). Originally installed for a limited time in Brooklyn Bridge Park, OY/YO became an instant New York icon for tourists and residents of all backgrounds. An OY/YO sculpture is included in the collection of the Jewish Museum.
