Cement Mezuzah by Marit Meisler: White
Artist Marit Meisler's unusual choice of cement creates a functional, contemporary mezuzah from common building material. The shin is recessed from the surface of the concrete. The material is the artist's own mixture, which achieves the desired combination of warmth and durability.
Meisler was born in Old Jaffa, Israel. Her father, Frank Meisler, a Judaica artist, works in metals in a traditional figural style. Marit Meisler trained in industrial design at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. She lives in Israel, where she produces this line of Judaica. Her work is part of the permanent collection of The Jewish Museum.
Kosher mezuzah scroll sold separately. The back of the mezuzah case is open. Once rolled, the scroll sits inside the compartment in the back. The opening for the scroll is 4" tall. This mezuzah requires tape for hanging. Tape not included.
