This facsimile publication faithfully reproduces the original, including all 46 specially
executed drawings by Ben Shahn as well as the typhography designed by graphic artist Joseph Blumenthal. 

The Alphabet of Creation is a legend from the Zohar, or The Book of Splendor, the most important literary work of the Kabbalah, the mystical texts of Judaism. It was written in Aramaic by a thirteenth-century Spanish scholar named Moses de Leon, who claimed it was revealed centuries earlier to another great mystic. The legend on how G-d created the world through the letters of the alphabet fired Shahn's imagination. He used it as a springboard to create a charming story for readers of all ages, an introduction to the letters of the Hebrew alphabet - and a magnificent work of art to be cherished by his legions of fans.
