Inscribed: "Mi Shebeirach May the One who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, bless those in need with healing. May the Holy One have mercy and grant a complete healing and renewal of mind, body and soul." Named for its opening words, this traditional prayer for the sick is usually read in synagogue, but is increasingly used wherever people are suffering from illness. There are many versions, but this abbreviated text conveys the essence of the prayer.
The shape of this bracelet is a geometric form known as a Mobius strip, after the mathematician August Ferdinand Mobius (1790-1868). It represents the seeming paradox of a plane without end, or one of infinite length. As such, it became accepted as a symbol for infinity.
