This is an original vintage poster from the series of iconic Levy's Bread ads featuring photographs of conspicuously non-Jewish New Yorkers - an African American and an Asian boy, a Native American man, an Italian mother, a chior boy among them - all blissfully contemplating a slice of Levy's rye. The ads ran from 1961 to 1970 in New York City and appeared primarily in the subways. They were so striking, they drew a national following and were eventually sold as posters. According to a January 11, 2014 New York Times article, "Malcolm X, who liked the poster featuring the black child so much that he had himself photographed alongside it." During the time, sales of Levy's breads soared. Today, they are still esteemed for their warmth, wit,and genial inclusiveness.
The poster comes framed in a classic white wood frame. Due to the large size of the poster, we chose to frame with a lightweight, non-glare plexi-glass front, allowing for easy of hanging and moving along with exceptional viewing.
