Deborah Kass OY/YO Toddler Tee: Size 5T

The OY/YO Toddler Tee is based on artist Deborah Kass’s vibrant yellow OY/YO sculpture and features OY on the front and YO on the back. Made in cooperation with the artist and exclusively available at the Jewish Museum Shop.  Printed in Brooklyn.

 

The sculpture, which seeks to evoke joy and unity in its playful monumentalizing of classic New York slang, is included in the collection of the Jewish Museum. The work uses the city’s culturally specific, yet universal lingo to communicate the collective pride and exasperation of living here with the twinned words oy (a Yiddish exclamation of alarm or bother) and yo (an omnipresent New York greeting). Originally installed for a limited time in Brooklyn Bridge Park, OY/YO became an instant New York icon and photo op for tourists and residents of all backgrounds.
