Slipware Dish by Morgan Levine

This slipware dish by Morgan Levine is entirely handcrafted and fits perfectly in Levine's stoneware seder plate.  Use one for a pop of color and pattern under or purchase several for a bolder look.  Sold individually and in assorted patterns, so no two are alike.  Please allow us to choose one for you.  They are all uniquely wonderful! 

Brooklyn artisan Morgan Levine makes functional pottery using tinted stoneware slips. The results reference 17th century Staffordshire slipware, Turkish Ebru patterns, Venetian marbled papers and French agateware. Firing each piece with a buttery satin glaze, she permanently preserves both the gesture and the slip’s fleeting fluidity. The contrast of the colors’ crisp definition and the patterns’ psychedelic softness give each piece a unique record of a specific moment in time. No two pieces are alike, but they relate to each other through shared palettes, patterns, and line quality.  Each is finished with a clear satin glaze, making it dishwasher and microwave safe.
