This necklace by Alexis Canter is molded after the wishing bone from a chicken. Made from an exact cast, this necklace is a chic and funky accessory for everyday wear. It is a stunning and delicate twist on kosher wear.
Canter (b. 1981) is an Oberlin College graduate and lives and works on her jewelry line in Brooklyn, NY and Cambridge, MA. She uses organic remnants to create unique pieces of jewelry; in fact, many of these remnants are chicken bones. Alexis's family owned and ran a chicken farm in New Hampshire while she was growing up and thus, the chicken bone symbolizes the meal that was shared and is part of her family history. Her family continues to mail her these bones for use in her jewelry collection.
