Each of the nine branches of this menorah, created by artisan Manfred Anson (1922-2012), are topped by minature copies of the Statue of Liberty. The base of the candles rests in the torch end of Lady Liberty's arm. Inscribed on the base of the menorah are dates in the history of the fight for Jewish liberation, ending with the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.

Anson left Germany to escape the Nazis in 1939 and eventually immigrated to the United States. A creative spirit and proud American, he designed this menorah for the centennial of the Statue of Liberty in 1986.

The original menorah by Anson is in the permanent collection of the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
