The Jewish Museum's Tesori Collection features the charm of an old world design in modern interpretation. The seven species motif includes grapes, olives, wheat, barley, figs, dates and pomegranates, symbolizing the abundance of the Land of Israel in biblical times. An Italian porcelain seder plate crafted in the second half of the 19th century inspired this collection.
This seder plate features wells, labeled in Hebrew and English, containing each of the symbolic food for the Passover seder. The Hebrew word Pesach
,
meaning Passover, appears in the center.
The Hebrew word matzah appears on the matzah plate. The holiday pot comes with a wooden dipper that can be used for honey on Rosh Hashana, a ceramic spoon used on Passover for horseradish or for use any time of the year.
