For this contemporary mezuzah by Talila Abraham, traditional lace work is recreated in modern metal to form a marriage of old and new.
Abraham, born in 1965, is a graduate of Haifa's Technion Israeli Institute of Technology and the Holon Academic Institute of Technology in Israel. She strives to evoke feelings of nostalgia for handmade objects by using contemporary materials like metal to create a contemporary, delicate beauty in functional objects. The designs of Abraham are inspired by the works of unknown women and merge the unique personal and romantic feeling of handicraft with contemporary materials and advanced technology. Abraham's work is included in the permanent collection of The Jewish Museum. Made in Israel.
