The design on this elegant matzah cover was adapted from a pewter Passover plate from Germany, 1753-54, in the collection of the Museum. The orginal plate is inscribed with Passover text and the order of the seder. On this silk cover, the Hebrew word for matzah is embroidered in the center, surrounded by a scroll and leaf pattern taken from the plate. The silvery threads embroided on white Dupioni silk and festive tassles on each corner make this matzah cover an attractive match to any table setting.
