by studioooij exclusively for The Jewish Museum Shop
The Jewish Museum Shop invited local artisans to design contemporary products inpsired by the art in the exhibition, Edouard Vuillard: A Painter and His Muses 1890-1940.
Designer Marianne van Ooij for studioooij: "For me, the challenge was to keep the spirit of Edouard Vuillard’s artwork alive while also creating something new and contemporary. I was very much drawn to Vuillard’s subdued colors - in cases even somber - with the little sparks of bright color. Pixelating some of the paintings was a way to hold on to that palette, while using the pixels as pattern for the type of chairs that Vuillard often painted in his interiors. This led to two pillows – fittingly textile items that could have done well in Vuillard’s richly decorated interiors. The designs are loosely based on the painting The Art Dealers."
Each pillow comes pre-filled. Made in New York.
