Painted greetings for the Jewish New Year became popular around the turn of the 20th century. Until World War II, many greetings were printed in Germany, whose factories excelled in the chromolithography process used to produce colored images.
Among the types of cards exchanged were flowery pop-ups that were originally created as Valentine's Day cards. The addition of images of a Jewish biblical figure or a family celebrating a holiday, along with a wish for a Happy New Year, converted these lovely cards for Jewish use.
Includes five each of the images Family Meal and Moses.
Inside greeting: With wishes for a sweet and happy New Year. L'Shana Tova - written in both English and Hebrew.
Please note: These are not pop-up cards but rather, cards featuring photographs of the original pop-up cards.
Pack of 10 cards with envelopes
