Artist Lawrence Weiner designed this set of nine wooden blocks in collaboration with the Yvon Lambert Gallery. When arranged or stacked, they create different variations on an equation that proposes a visual deconstruction of the X and Y chromosomes, which typically assign gender through the combinations XX and XY. Limited edition of 1,000 sets.
Weiner was born in 1942 in the Bronx, New York. The first presentation of his work was in Mill Valley, California in 1960. He works in a broad range of media including video, film, books, sound art, performance art, installation art and graphic art.
Box: 4-3/4" x 4-3/4" x 1-1/2"
Each block is 1-1/2" on all sides
