Artist Barbara Bloom has devoted her career to questioning the way we perceive and value objects. Her visionary approach to divining the meaning encoded in the things with which we surround ourself is the basis for the exhibition
As it were ... So to speak: A Museum Collection in Dialogue with Barbara Bloom.
Here, she presents traditional objects from the Museum's collection in unconventional contexts and offers new ways to view the Museum and its holdings.
On each side of this tote is a detail from the exhibition in which panels are placed in front of mid- to late-19th century portraiture from the Museum's collection, revealing only the expressive eyes of each sitter.
