The Jewish Museum and Alessi, the Italian design house, introduce a special selection of contemporary designs from Alessi's catalog for Jewish holidays and traditions.
This Challah Serving Set is for the Sabbath and holidays. Included in the set is the: Programme 8 Tray, Programme 8 Cutting Board and
Nuovo Milano Knife.
The Programme 8 series, designed by Franco Sargiani and Eija Helander, is a systematic and comprehensive project of modular and stackable household items based on the 'international-style' architecture of the 1970s. As such, the removable cutting board rests perfectly in the tray.
The Nuovo Milano Knife is designed by Ettore Sottsass. After experimenting and prototyping the varying thicknesses of cutlery bodies, he produced a design that achieved his desired finish: a feel as smooth as seaworn stones. The knife, which can be used to slice challah, completes the service.
