When was the last time you emphatically broke something? These salt and pepper shakers offer you the opportunity to do just that! Hold the one piece with both hands and snap it in two. After it breaks you get two separate vessels. Fill them with salt or pepper and use.
Breaking is an experience of impulsive outburst, but this time, it is an act that builds rather than destroys. In a world of products whose shapes are completely dictated by the designer, Studio Kahn has enabled the user to complete the design himself. The event of the breaking leaves its mark on the shaker and gives it its final, unique, one- of-a-kind appearance.
Mey and Boaz Kahn met during their studies at Jerusalem's Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and married two years later. 'Fragile' was the first project they created on together. They believe good design should lay on the border of art and must reveal cultural issues as well as ask questions about our way of living. All of their products are developed and crafted in their Ramot Hashavim studio.
