Boaz and Mey Kahn of Studio Kahn designed this menorah, which is part of their 'fragile' collection. Eight candlesticks hang from the menorah. On each night of Hanukkah, the user breaks off one candle cup and plants it in the hole above. Once planted, a candle can be added and the menorah lit for the holiday. By the eighth night, all of the candle cups have been picked and planted!
The menorah bears various symbols taken from nature and Judaism. Picking and planting symbolize the circle of life. The breaking and construction are in memory of the destruction and rebuilding of the Temple. During the eight days of Hanukkah, the menorah is built up and created step by step. Made in Israel.
Mey and Boaz Kahn met during their studies at Jersalem's Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. 'Fragile' was the first project they created together. They believe good design must not only reveal cultural issues but must also ask questions about our way of life. All of their products are developed and crafted in their Ramot Hashavim studio.
