Tina Frey's inspiration for her pieces comes from a variety of places: the shapes are from nature and objects found while she's travelling around the world; and the colors are inspired by popsicles, candies, and jelly beans. Frey first makes models of each piece from clay and, after the clay has dried, she makes molds by hand. The molds are used to cast each piece individually in small batches by color. After this process is complete, the pieces are sanded by hand. Everything is handmade in her studio in San Francisco, California.
