American-born designer Michael Aram created this seder plate inspired by the form of pomegranates -- a symbol of eternity, fertility and plenty. It is an age-old image that crosses cultures, transcends time and is one of the seven species of Israel. Aram included seven bowls rather than six, so the seder plate can hold the six symbolic seder foods and an orange, which honors the contributions of women.
Aram, who works primarily in metal, studied fine art and worked in New York until the late 1980s, when he took a life-altering trip to India. He now lives and works in New Delhi.
