Overview

This challah knife is designed in the Florentine neighborhood of south Tel Aviv by industrial designer Tomer Botner of Florentine Kitchen Knives exclusively for The Jewish Museum.

Currently available in a series of 100, the challah knives balance utilitarian needs with ceremonial ones, and are designed to be an heirloom item. Every detail of the knife is carefully considered. Blades are 235mm high- quality stainless steel, more commonly used in high-end chef's knives, ensuring the blade will keep its edge for much longer than most bread knives. The knife handle is composed of brass, stabilized leather and wood; it is timeless in terms of design and has been created to age well and last for generations.

The finishing touch, described by Botner himself: "To give it that little extra Jewish touch, the 100 knives are numbered with Hebrew letters instead of numbers, a numbering method common in Israel and the Hebrew language." Each challah knife comes in a wooden gift box.

Limited edition of 100 knives
